Accentuate with Accents

- Know Your Tile
When doing a tile job, whether it be your bathroom, kitchen, fireplace, or front entrance you have the option to keep it simple, or to fancy it up a bit with an accent tile. Accent tile can be used in a number of ways and add that special something to the job. Regardless of what your budget is, an accent can always make it look like a million bucks!
In the Kitchen
A great place to use an accent is on the kitchen backsplash. This can be in the form of framed, hand-painted tile behind the range hood, or a simple decorative strip surrounded by white subway tile. Both options are a beautiful addition to any kitchen. Using a accent can also save you a bit of coin. Say you love the glitzy glass tile, but it’s slightly out of your budget. Using an inexpensive subway tile with only a small strip of glitz adds up to big savings. Now instead of buying 30 square feet of the expensive glitz, you are only buying a few square feet
In Small Spaces
Want to make a big impact in a small room? Why not accent the entire wall? This works great in a small powder room, or even a shower with a simple tile. It can be glass to add reflection, or a natural split face to add texture either way your guests will be in awe of the transformation.
Make an Entrance
Make a grand entrance by framing a tile mat. This looks great in both an entrance as well as under a free-standing tub in an elegant bathroom. Just use a mosaic that works with the rest of your flooring to make a beautiful feature.
Another great way to make a statement is to clad an entrance wall with bold ledgestone or character-clad wood panelling.
So regardless of your budget there is a way to incorporate stunning detail to make your job look custom.
