We are proud and honoured to participate in the new women’s recovery centre in SW Calgary. Recovery Acres helps both men and women recover from alcoholism and drug addiction. Last week they held a grand opening for their 1835 house, specializing in Women’s unique needs.
About Recovery Acres
Recovery Acres has a compassionate cause. From their website:
Alcoholism and drug addiction have no social boundaries. Clients come to us from all walks of life and sectors of society. Our recovery programs benefit the community through families and careers that are saved, support of people experiencing homelessness, and reduced pressures on social services and judicial and medical systems.
And, with their 1835 house project, they are now undertaking treatment specifically for women and their unique needs. Again, from their website:
Women are bio-psycho-socially distinct. We have unique needs, motivations, and barriers to receiving treatment. CARE for Women is a new out-patient treatment program that begins in September 2016. It is a trauma-informed and best-practice designed program that is facilitated by credentialed staff in a safe and supportive group setting, specifically for women.
The CARE approach is an abstinence based, clinical model that combines psychological testing, assessment and therapy, with 12-step recovery foundations. CARE for Women is designed for women who struggle with substance use disorders in combination with depression, trauma-related issues, anxiety, or other mental health challenges. CARE for Women is completed over three months in two phases.
The Renovation
After learning about their cause, we decided to help Recovery Acres build their dream. The team did a fantastic job of creating a welcoming environment for those in need. Thank you for including us in your Construction Care team!
The main kitchen is tastefully decorated, allowing the Stainless French Random mosaic they picked to really shine!
In the main bathroom, modern, white subway tile is accented with a black and grey toned accent tile. The combination of Simplistic White Subway and Dream Taurus Random Strip Mosaic is a flexible choice. Cypress Dusk wood imitation tile was used for the floor, thus giving the look of hardwood, but with the commercial durability of this quality porcelain.
Accompanying the childcare area is a full kitchen, that utilizes the same Stainless French Random mosaic as an accent tile, and paired it with Cypress Dusk and Twine Grey, skillfully bringing the tiles used throughout the house together in one backsplash.
The downstairs bathroom utilizes Simplistic White Subway and porcelain tiles throughout; Thus, making a neutral and welcoming bathroom for the kids and their caregivers
