At Tile + Stone Source, we offer complementary in-store design assistance. Feel free to make the most of this service by arriving with everything you need to make your final selection a piece of cake!
We get asked all the time to help with tile selections. We understand that at times it’s extremely hard to visualize what you have picked in your home. You will see your selections every day, so you don’t want to rush into choosing something you’re not 100% sure of. You want your new space to look good for years to come. We are asked all the time for our opinions, suggestions and recommendations, and we are more than happy to help—but we need a few things to do our job properly. It’s always helpful to bring in photos and samples to show us in order to get a feel for the work getting done, your expectations and your overall style. Each individual has their own taste and your home should be a reflection of you and your family.
Pictures
As mentioned before, bringing in a few things to show us can be a massive help in getting exactly what you would like. Pictures are a great place to start, and the more, the better! Take a snap shot of the project area. Use apps like Pinterest or Houzz to make idea books that we can look through and understand the look you are trying to achieve.
Paint Samples
Bring in any paint colours that you are thinking of, as well as any paint colours from the surrounding rooms. Some paint store will actually give you a large paint sample of a few of your top choices, making it easier to really see.
Cabinet Samples
If your cabinets aren’t changing, don’t be afraid to unscrew a door or drawer and bring it in with you. Pictures change colours slightly, so this is the best way to get a proper match. If you are doing all new cabinetry, then ask the supplier if you can take a sample (they usually have small pieces with the stain you have requested).
Adjacent Flooring Samples
If you are transitioning from one type of flooring to another (meaning you have an adjacent room with different flooring) try to bring a piece of that as well. That’s not always possible, but pictures always help fill in the gaps.
Countertop Samples
And finally, if you are changing out your existing countertop, try your very best to bring in a sample. The supplier should be able to give you a small piece. This is important because natural stone countertops can change dramatically depending on what they are put beside. If you wish to pull out certain colours from your countertop, the exact shade of tile for your backsplash needs to be selected. That shade can only be determined by putting the samples right up against each other.
And, of course, you are welcome to take samples of our product home with you. Sometimes you need to see everything in the light of the room it will be installed in. Also, sometimes it takes a few days to consider and make your final decision. Having samples with you can make you more confident that you are making the right choice.
This may seem like a lot of work, especially when you are lugging around a heavy box filled with more samples than you ever thought you would need, but in the end, you will feel confident with you choices.
When you’ve gathered all your samples, or even all the pictures you can snap, come in to Tile + Stone Source armed with your samples, pictures, Pinterest boards, and Houzz idea book, and we will happily lend you a hand in spreading them out and help you to make informed, beautiful choices with our free design help.
